This work agreement has an arbitration clause in it. I don't think I've ever signed one of these before. I don't really want to either. I wish giving up your right to court was illegal.
@djsumdog don't fucking sign it man, it's almost certainly unconstitutional, and if it isn't it fucking should be. Also, good luck 😬
@jonathanharker It is constitutional in America. In May of 2018, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the 1925 Federal Arbitration Act over the right of employers to form class action suits against employees.
@djsumdog Cross the section out, initial the cross-out, and get someone in authority at the company to do the same. If they won't, you really need to rethink whether you want to work for that kind of organization.
@billblake2018 I've done that before for non compete agreements:
@djsumdog It's amazing how many people won't try to negotiate an employment contract. But if one can negotiate money, why not everything else?
@billblake2018 In most cases you can't. I can because I'm in IT, an in-demand field. For most laborers, it's literally a take it or leave it thing; which is why some of the recent supreme court decisions have been terrible, like Justice Alito and his war on Federal unions.
